Major David Stamm is a career law enforcement official with nearly 40 years of law enforcement experience.  Major Stamm retired from the Charter of Grand Blanc, Michigan Police Department after 33 years of service serving as the Chief of Police for over 16 years.  In May of 2016 Major Stamm was hired as the Emergency Management Manager for the Office of the Genesee County Sheriff during the city of Flint Water crisis. He was responsible for the response and recovery for the county assisting the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division and coordinating with many local partners including the city of Flint.


In February 2020  he was appointed to the rank of Major by Sheriff Christopher Swanson.  He is in charge of the uniform section which includes the following divisions: corrections, law enforcement , police paramedics, traffic, marine patrol and other uniform services.  He was a member of the Michigan Association Chiefs of Police, Genesee County Chiefs of Police Association, Central Michigan Police Chiefs Association, and the ALPACT (Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust).  


Major Stamm  was appointed to the Governors Traffic Safety Advisory Commission for the state of Michigan by both Governors Jennifer Granholm and Richard Snyder from 2004 until 2014. The Commission, through interagency cooperation, was committed to reducing traffic crashes, injuries and deaths in Michigan by promoting effective safety programs. 

 Major Stamm has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Michigan-Flint and is a graduate of the 209th Session of the FBI National Academy in 2002.
