Michael Angus was appointed Major of Investigative Services in January, 2020 by Sheriff Christopher R. Swanson.  Major Angus brings with him nearly three decades of investigative and administrative knowledge.  Major Angus has served in a multitude of law enforcement roles over the past 29 years, becoming one of the most well-respected law enforcement professionals in Genesee County.

Major Angus began his law enforcement career with the City of Flint Police Department where he served for 23 years. During his time with the City of Flint, Major Angus was assigned to patrol, gang squad, and the Detective Bureau. While assigned to the Detective Bureau, Major Angus served 11 years in the Homicide Division.

During his time in the Homicide Division, Major Angus’ vast knowledge and investigative talents resulted in his assignment to the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, which Major Angus’ involvement with continues today.

Upon retirement from the City of Flint Police Department, Major Angus continued his law enforcement career with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, Mott Community College Police Department, and most recently, the Davison Township Police Department.

During his distinguished career Major Angus has received numerous awards including; Officer of the Year, Meritorious Service, and Professional Excellence.
