THE E.D.G.E. will be held October 7, 2021 at the Genesys Conference Center 805 Health Park Blvd. Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Be prepared for a high energy, high impact one of a kind opportunity for professionals from in and around Genesee County to educate themselves on the signs of Elder abuse and Financial Exploitation.
You will learn how you as an individual can Defend the vulnerable against perpetrators seeking to harm this growing population. Guest speakers will highlight individual roles and our responsibility as a community to Guard Elderly adults from some of the most heinous and calloused crimes committed against elders. Speakers will be engaging and focused on sharing their knowledge of Elder Abuse and put a real face to the issue confronting our communities. Caution is advised, graphic images will be shown during multiple presentations.
Registration includes continental breakfast and lunch. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a variety of vendors specific to the field of Elder Abuse and Financial Exploitation. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the event and grand prize give away will take place at closing thoughts.
ELDER ABUSE TASK FORCE
Sheriff Robert J. Pickell (Retired) founded the Elder Abuse Task Force in 2008 to address abuse and financial exploitation of Genesee County seniors. Specially trained Investigators, Prosecutors, and Social-Workers under the direction of the Probate Court are dedicated to investigating and prosecuting allegations involving local seniors. Senior Safety Tips
Never give out personal information over the phone, including birth date, social security number and account numbers.
Do not throw paperwork containing sensitive information in the trash, shred it.
Never let strangers in the house to use the phone.
Do not allow someone to do work for you until you get references and know the price for the entire job.
